AUDITION POLICY Berkeley Rep is a LORT B Theatre and hires actors who are members of Actors’ Equity Association. Occasionally local non-union actors are hired in large cast shows in supporting roles or as extras. Our understudy casts are drawn from the local non-union acting pool. Actors are hired on a show-by-show basis during the season and auditions for individual shows are by invitation only. Berkeley Rep holds open auditions annually in the late spring. These auditions are announced on the AEA hotline and the Theatre Bay Area hotline and magazine. Berkeley Rep also attends the Theatre Bay Area general auditions, which are usually held in February. Out-of-town Equity actors who may be visiting the Bay Area can be seen on the third Monday of every month.
