SESSION SIZZLES AT THE BERKELEY REP SCHOOL OF THEATRE Three Acting Classes and Three New Classes, including one with Noted Solo Performer Ron Campbell WHO: Adults of all skill levels WHAT: Summer Classes at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre WHEN: Starting July 5, 2005 WHERE: Berkeley Rep School of Theatre / 2071 Addison Street @ Shattuck / Downtown Berkeley HOW MUCH: Varies by class INFO: 510.647.2972 or www.berkeleyrep.org BERKELEY CA, MAY 26, 2005 Today the School of Theatre at Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced its summer schedule: six theatre classes for adults start on July 5, including an exciting new workshop with noted solo performer Ron Campbell. All classes are held next door to the Theatre in the Nevo Education Center at 2071 Addison Street in downtown Berkeley. Campbells new class is entitled The Hero, the Crone and the FoolUnleashing Archetypes to Create Theatrical Magic. Anything can happen and usually does, which is why knee pads are required, he jokes. Seriously, this class is about paring away performance to the most essential elements, to the most compelling movements and to the archetypes. These archetypes exist in each of us; its merely a matter of revealing and transforming ourselves. That involves concentrated work on our tools, and it involves silly homework like telling the fool to commit a tiny crime such as changing the bookmark in your lovers book. I like to work on the edge, which is why Im proud to teach at Berkeley Rep. The Theatre has done a remarkable job of keeping its edge while retaining its support from funders and the community. Mirroring the mission of the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Rep, our School of Theatre strives to stretch students imaginations, discover their creative potential and encourage them as artists, says Rachel Fink, the schools director. Now in our fourth year, the School offers an interactive environment where students immerse themselves in all aspects of the craft and artistry of theatre, learning the commitment and technique necessary for artistic excellence. We are thrilled to have teachers as distinguished as Ron Campbell working with us. The full schedule of classes is as follows: Beginning & Intermediate Acting: These core classes are taught by Marvin Greene, a professional actor who has performed with major theatres such as American Conservatory Theatre (A.C.T.), Aurora Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre and San Jose Rep.
