REP ANNOUNCES SIX NEW BOARD MEMBERS Tony Award-winning theatre also elects new officers for the 2005/06 Season BERKELEY CA, JULY 19, 2005 Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced six new members of its board of directors and seven new board officers as the Tony Award-winning Theatre enters its 2005/06 Season. This volunteer leadership will be critical to Berkeley Reps success as it stages work with eminent artists such as Tony Kushner, Rita Moreno, Heather Raffo, Maurice Sendak and Culture Clash in the coming yearand as it tackles challenges including the replacement of the Theatres scene shop, which was destroyed by fire on June 29. We feel extremely fortunate to continue attracting such prominent members of our community to the board, said Susan Medak, managing director of Berkeley Rep. They come from diverse backgrounds and a variety of industries, which is a true asset to our organization. I am particularly pleased that a new generation of leaders is committed to our mission and our artistic vision. The new officers, elected to one-year terms, are as follows: President: Richard F. Hoskins, managing director of Genstar Capital Vice President: David Cox, former president and CEO of Cowles Media Company Treasurer: Peter Pervere, retired financial officer for Sybase and Commerce One Secretary: Marjorie Randolph, senior vice president of human resources and administration at Walt Disney Feature Animation Chair of the Annual Fund: Felicia Woytak, real-estate investor and developer Chair of the Capital Campaign: Wayne Jordan, president of Jordan Real Estate Investments Chair of the Trustees Committee: Richard A. Rubin, president of Richard A. Rubin Associates The six new members of Berkeley Reps board are as follows: Patrick ODea is the president and CEO of Peets Coffee and Tea. A graduate of the University of Albany in New York, he formerly served as president and CEO of the Mothers and Archway Cookie companies. He and his wife Holly live in Alamo and have four children: Logan, Erin, Sean and Connor. Bill Schaff is the co-founder and CEO of Phocas Financial Corporation, an institutional asset management company in Alameda. He earned a masters degree in engineering from U.C. Davis, has nearly 20 years experience as an investment advisor and is well known as a weekly financial columnist for InformationWeek. Mr. Schaff lives in Alameda with his wife Cynthia and their three children: Sarah, Allie and William. Dr. Thalia Dorwick is the co-author of three popular textbooks for teaching Spanish: Puntos de partida, Puntos en breve and Que tal. Now retired, she formerly served as editor-in-chief for humanities, social sciences and languages at McGraw-Hill Higher Education and coordinated the firms Destinos series on PBS and its accompanying textbook. Dr. Dorwick also sits on the board of Case Western Reserve University, where she earned her B.A. and Ph.D. She resides in Oakland. William T. Espey is a director and private banker for the Citigroup Private Bank. He has more than 25 years experience in the financial services industry with expertise in investment advisory, investment management, estate planning and trust administration, risk modification and lending. He holds a B.S. in finance, earned an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A.). Mr. Espey resides in Lafayette with his wife Margaret Edwards and their two children: John and Audrey. Scott R. Haber is a corporate partner at Latham & Watkins LLP and a member of the firms executive committee. He earned his B.A., M.B.A. and J.D. at Cornell University, where he was editor of the Cornell Law Review. A member of the American and California State Bar Associations, he frequently lectures on the subject of shareholder rights plans. He and his wife Sherry reside in Hillsborough with their two children: Benjamin and Cameron. Dr. Dale Rogers Marshall is the retired president of Wheaton College in Massachusetts and former professor of political science at U.C. Davis. She earned her B.A. at Cornell University, her M.A. from U.C. Berkeley and her Ph.D. from U.C.L.A. She and her husband Donald live in Piedmont and have three grown children. These new members bring the total membership on Berkeley Reps board of directors to 34. In addition to the officers listed above, 18 other board members continue their service: Kenneth P. Avery of PricewaterhouseCoopers; Stephen K. Cassidy of Cassidy, Shimko & Dawson; John Field of Field Paoli Architects; Kerry Francis of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP; Nicholas M. Graves of Osterweis Capital Management; Mary Hamilton of bebe, Inc.; Dr. Roger Hoag, retired from Alta Bates Hospital; Dr. David Hoffman of Stanford University; Sarah McArthur of Pixar Animation Studios; Sandra McCandless of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal; Dugan Moore, private investor; Mary Ann Peoples, retired founder of The Umbrella Group; Pat Rougeau of IO Informatics, Inc.; Patricia Sakai of 24-Hour Fitness, Inc.; Stephen Snow of Delta Investments; Michael Steinberg, former chairman and CEO of Macys West; Roger A. Strauch of The Roda Group; and Jean Z. Strunsky of the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Trusts. Carole S. Krumland, a former board member, resumed her seat, and two Berkeley Rep staff members also serve on the board: Ms. Medak and Artistic Director Tony Taccone. Founded in 1968, the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre has established a national reputation for its ambitious programming and dynamic productions. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Tony Taccone and Managing Director Susan Medak, Berkeley Rep seeks to engage its audience in an ongoing dialogue of ideas. In 2001, Berkeley Rep opened The Roda Theatre, a 600-seat proscenium theatre that complements the 400-seat Thrust Stage, and the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, housed in the Nevo Education Center.
