student matinees

Berkeley Rep’s Student Matinee Series makes the theatrical art form accessible and affordable to middle school and high school students. We have chosen four plays from Season 07/08 that we feel are particularly relevant to a student audience: after the quake, Argonautika, Taking Over and No Child…. These productions combine Berkeley Rep’s high level of artistic excellence with educational subject matter that meets curriculum standards. Student tickets are $10 each and we provide one complimentary chaperone ticket for every 10 students. Prior to each student matinee, teachers will be provided with study guides which are developed to enhance understanding of the production and which reinforce California Department of Education content standards in English-language Arts, Historical-Social Science and Theatre by providing relevant activities and exercises. Performances listed as “Student Matinees” are exclusively for student groups and are followed by Question and Answer Sessions with the cast. Other performance dates are available for student groups of 15 or more for $15 per ticket. Click here for more information about group tickets.
