This year instead of trekking all the way to New York City, we will be exploring the nation’s third largest theatre center—the San Francisco Bay Area!

Our program, Theatre Scene, involves visiting a variety of theatre productions throughout the Bay Area.

• August 28—Avenue Q (Orpheum)
• September 16—Yellowjackets (workshop reading)
• September 20—Sweeney Todd (A.C.T.)
• October 18—The Bluest Eye (Lorraine Hansberry Theatre)
• November 27—The Color Purple (Orpheum)
• December 12—The Shaker Chair (Shotgun Players, preview)
• February 27—Satellites (Aurora Theatre)

We happen to have some of the best theatre right in our backyard and it’s time to take advantage of this resource! On the night of the performance, teens meet at the Nevo Education Center Building and travel together to see each show. In addition to our regular theatre attendance through Target® Teen Night, this is an opportunity for teens to support the theatre community and learn about the breadth and diversity the local arts scene has to offer. After we travel together to these productions, we often enjoy post-show discussions in local restaurants and coffee shops.
