Instructor: Erica Blue
You are on an expedition with fellow archaeologists, high atop your camel. You tromp through the hot sand of the Egyptian desert. You hear a loud noise…BOOM! The sand opens beneath your feet, revealing a pyramid that has never been discovered! As you begin to excavate, you find hieroglyphics that tell the story of the gods and goddesses of Egypt. As you turn the corner of a passage deep within the pyramid, you meet Isis, Osiris and Ra. The pictures, golden statues and hieroglyphics all come to life, and you become part of the story. Designed to introduce the youngest child to the fascinating world of Egyptian history with silly and serious adventures, this class culminates with a show for your mummy, daddy, family and friends.
Erica Blue has a B.A. in dance/theatre and child development from Sarah Lawrence College. She has taught and performed around the U.S., from La MaMa in New York to the Cleveland Performance Art Festival, and won Best of the Fringe in San Francisco and Seattle. Now a mother of two boys, she has redoubled her enthusiasm for teaching young people how to explore their imaginations.
SAT 9:30–10:30am • 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14 • $90

Namaste! Welcome to India where sweet-smelling incense burns, brightly colored saris of orange, turquoise, yellow and red swoop to the beat of the music, jewel-covered swords clash and monkeys fly. This class will introduce the young theatre-maker to the beauty of Indian culture. Dance, sing, act, make your own costume and listen to popular Indian music. Perform one of the most beloved stories of Indian mythology, Hanuman the Monkey King, as well as other epic stories of the Hindu tradition. Invite your family and friends to our festival and experience this great event full of color and rhythm.

Berkeley Rep School of Theatre is pleased to be able to offer financial aid for students enrolling in our youth and teen classes. Scholarships will be granted to students attending classes who demonstrate a strong financial need. Financial aid will be disbursed on a sliding scale—eligible families generally receive scholarships covering between 30%–100% of tuition.
Families applying for financial aid must submit a minimum $25 deposit per student at the time of registration. This amount secures the student’s place in the program while their financial aid application is under consideration. This deposit is refundable if the registration is cancelled by the end of the first week of class.
Download our application form or call the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre at 510 647–2972.
