Concerning Strange Devices from the Distant West

free speech, free party, free events

Perception and reality, both in art and life, blur the boundaries of Concerning Strange Devices from the Distant West. And what better way to tackle blurry perception and reality than with a delicious cocktail? Inspired by the drinks you’ll see characters sipping on stage, we’ve crafted the Blue Drink and the Green Drink for your enjoyment in the real world. While sipping your jewel-tone cocktails in the lobby, be sure to check out the exhibition of Meiji-era photos, which are very much like those discussed and seen in the play. And, in the spirit of Strange Devices, you may even leave with a new tattoo! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, arrive early for free docent presentations at 7pm, and before most weekend evening shows, titillate your taste buds with free pre-show tastings.

Friday, February 26 / 8pm

There are a lot of reasons it’s great to be under 30. Less wrinkles, more sleep and higher metabolism, to name a few. But there are also a lot of reasons it sucks to be in your 20s—and tight finances tops the list. Need a pick-me-up? Come to Berkeley Rep. If you’re less than 30 years old, you enjoy half-price tickets for nearly every performance.

30-Below is the coolest theatre after-party for people in their 20s. Free food and drinks, live music and more. It’s a great place to hang out with friends—or maybe make a few new ones. And better yet, it’s free with your ticket.

CH drinks

The Blue Drink

The sweet punch of Bacardi rum tames the delicious tang of grapefruit juice while cerulean shades of Curaçao gives this refreshing cocktail the happiest kind of blues—the kind served over ice. ($8)

The Green Drink

When the crisp pairing of Absolut Citron and white cranberry juice meets the luscious sweetness of Midori melon liqueur, other cocktails turn green with envy. ($8)
