In 2004, Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Board of Trustees committed the Theatre to a course of action. We would invest in growth to lay the foundation for long-term stability. We would invest in our core competency—namely production of excellent, ambitious theatre. We would build new audiences to be the caretakers of the Theatre in the future. We would grow our school to jump-start arts education programs and enrich new generations of theatre-goers and thoughtful citizens. And, we would expand our infrastructure to ensure that the gains we achieve can be sustained. We, like many other business and civic leaders in our community, recognize that upfront investment yields long-term gains.
Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s 40th Anniversary Campaign funds these initiatives. We have the firm conviction that these investments will produce powerful returns for the Theatre and for the Bay Area.
