Target® Story Builders reinforces California Department of Education content standards in theatre, including Artistic Perception, Creative Expressions, Historical and Cultural Context and Aesthetic Valuing.

performance lab

In conjunction with the world premiere of The People’s Temple, the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre is offering four year-long high school residencies that center around the use of material from the newest project by the head writer of The Laramie Project, Leigh Fondakowski, and her collaborators to explore acting, movement and scene study in the classroom. History and performance are fused in the administration of this program as students work with a script developed from historical documents and recorded interviews with the survivors of Jonestown. Students will stage selections from the play in their classrooms with their work culminating in a viewing of Berkeley Rep’s production.
