East Bay Writers’ Room

Every Monday · 10am–5pm
Please note
The East Bay Writers’ Room is on hiatus until further notice. We look forward to welcoming local writers to our building again soon!
The East Bay Writers’ Room is open to all Bay Area artists who want a quiet, concentrated space to write from 10am–5pm every Monday. Artists must sign up in advance to reserve their space. Capacity is limited to 10 people per week. Please ring the doorbell to be let in to the building (the entrance is on 9th Street).
The East Bay Writers’ Room came out of a series of salons for local artists that aimed to open a dialogue about what kind of support the local theatre community desired. Space and time were the two loudest requests. Thanks to those conversations, The Ground Floor decided to dedicate a room at Berkeley Rep’s Harrison Street campus for playwrights to write amongst their peers.
Join our mailing list and receive an email at the top of every month to remind you to sign up for the coming month’s sessions, as well as notifications of public presentations and more.
Special thanks
The Ground Floor is supported by Louise Gund, Frances Hellman & Warren Breslau, Michael & Sue Steinberg, and other individual supporters of Berkeley Rep’s Create Campaign. Additional funding is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tournesol Project, and Bank of America.
