Accessibility

We make our performances accessible!

Assistive listening

Free assistive listening devices — both earbuds and neck loops — are available prior to the performance. No advance reservations required.

Closed captioning

In an effort to more effectively serve the accessibility needs of our audiences, we have identified select performances with the greatest benefit for our new closed captioning service, CCTheater, available on your smartphone.

Closed captioning is available on the following dates in our 2025/26 season:

  • The Reservoir: evenings Sep 11, 12, 14, 16, and 17; and every matinee through Oct 9
  • The Hills of California: evenings Nov 6, 7, 9, 11, and 12; and every matinee through Dec 4
  • Mother of Exiles: evenings Nov 20, 21, 23, 25, and 26; and every matinee through Dec 18
  • How Shakespeare Saved My Life: evenings Jan 29 and 30, Feb 1, 3, and 4; and every matinee through Feb 26

Audio description

Berkeley Rep is thrilled to partner with Gravity Access Services, supported by a generous grant from the Ford Foundation, to offer audio description for select performances.

Audio description is available on the following dates in our 2025/26 season:

Audio description provides access to the visual elements of the show, such as action, costumes, settings, gestures, facial expressions, and objects, via a live audio track spoken through individual headphones by one of Gravity’s professional audio describers. This service is available to all ticket holders; advance reservation required. We ask that patrons utilizing this service arrive at least thirty minutes prior to showtime to pick up their headphones from the Gravity representative in the lobby.

Wheelchairs

Berkeley Rep is wheelchair-accessible. Please see our seating charts for wheelchair seating locations.
