Hear from Tony-nominee Joe Iconis (writer of Be More Chill, “Broadway, Here I Come!”) as he offers insights, advice, and contextual tidbits that will inform your interpretation of his work! In this workshop, students will perform a song written by Joe and receive coaching through the character and storytelling beats that will not only aid the performance of the piece, but inform each students’ approach to storytelling and songwriting!
This workshop will also feature a Q&A-style conversation, where students can have an honest and chill back-and-forth with Joe about a career in the arts. Participants are asked to prepare a 16 to 32-bar cut of any song written by Joe. Sheet music available on request.
